Happy New Year – My Plan for 2011
Happy new year to my millions of fans. 2010 is over, and it was a heck of a year for me. Our Mallow web design business, Spiralli, moved to new premises which allowed us to expand our services into training, and office space rentals. I took 3 days off all year, and felt well justified in taking the entire Christmas break off. The break was great, and allowed me to take stock of where I’m going.
I reached the conclusion that I spend my time badly. I’m always busy, because my time management skills need a little work. In particular, I spend way too much time researching, and thats something I want to limit, so I can have more time for other stuff. Google and Evernote should help me organise myself better.
Personally, I want to get involved in more projects. I’m very interested in robotics – my arduino board allows me to program a potent “controller” microchip, and I’ve just assembled a robotic arm which will be the perfect partner. The current plan is to mount the arm on a remote controlled Humvee and control both with the arduino – to what end, I don’t yet know 🙂
I also want to complete my current recording project. I’m teaming up with another musician to create an E.P. of original material to be released on the web for free.
Blurring the lines between business and pleasure, I’m learning android development, but am seriously miffed at the audio latency issues I’m reading about. I had hoped to do an audio app. I’ll continue to boost my web-dev chops, and I’ll be targeting Drupal this year, as well as improving my skills in WordPress, jQuery and AJAX.
I’m also lacking an exercise regimen – a fitter body means a fitter mind. I’ll be hitting the cross-trainer and exercise bike with some podcasts (a mix of music and tech), or going for walks with my missus, working up to some hill climbing in the summer.
So that is my ambitious plan for the year. Watch this space…
